OUR STORY

ALREADY MADE was born out of love for fashion with people at the centre. We are a clothing outlet with over 10 years experience in the fashion industry. Our experience has shown us the importance fashion plays in each of our lives and how integral it can be to our self expression and individuality. We feel strongly however, that this need should not be to the detriment of our planet.

Each year the fashion industry throws away an estimated 1.75 million tons of textiles in the UK alone. Making it the second biggest consumer of water in the world; and is responsible for 10% of co2 emissions.

Consumer demand and cheaper manufacturing costs for bulk quantities are the cause of this waste, leaving brands with a surplus of ‘overstock’ products. If not sold, these perfectly good items often get thrown away and a large percentage of them end up in landfills in developing countries.
It is not only an environmental effect this has on the planet, the mass production that fast fashion demands encourages human rights issues such as modern day slavery and inhumane working conditions in the developing world.
Many brands are working out ways to combat this problem in order to make fashion fairer. But the speed at which new fashion trends are manufactured often outweighs this progress.
